Dolphins’ Ashtyn Davis Suits Up While Patriots’ Gonzalez Misses Week 2 Clash at Hard Rock Stadium

Dolphins Inactive List Highlights

As the Miami Dolphins prepare to face the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium, the team’s inactive list reveals both expected and surprising developments. Most notably, safety Ashtyn Davis will suit up for the game despite being listed as questionable due to a knee injury that limited his participation in practice throughout the week. His presence on the field provides a much-needed boost to the Dolphins’ secondary.

The inactive list features several players who were ruled out prior to Sunday’s clash. Tight end Darren Waller, cornerback Storm Duck, and defensive tackle Benito Jones were all confirmed as inactive on Friday. Additionally, running back Jaylen Wright and cornerback Ethan Bonner, both of whom returned to practice for the first time in weeks, were also unable to participate. Given the Dolphins’ upcoming schedule, which includes a Thursday night matchup against the Buffalo Bills, there’s optimism that Wright and Bonner could be ready for Week 3.

This week marks a second consecutive absence for wide receiver Tahj Washington, who is the lone healthy scratch. Rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers, selected in the seventh round, is set to serve as the emergency third quarterback once again.

Patriots’ Inactive Players

The New England Patriots’ inactive list consists of five players, along with their emergency third quarterback, Tommy DeVito. Running back Tyler Goodson, who has been managing an elbow injury, was the only player deemed questionable on the final injury report.

The most significant absence for the Patriots is cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury he sustained in late July. Gonzalez was officially ruled out on Friday, joining outside linebacker Keion White on the inactive list. Other notable inactives for New England include nose tackle Eric Gregory, wide receiver Efton Chism, and guard Caedan Wallace.

On a positive note for the Patriots, starting right tackle Morgan Moses and linebacker Marte Mapu are both active after being listed as questionable earlier in the week, providing valuable depth to the roster.

The Road Ahead for Both Teams

As both teams gear up for this crucial divisional battle, the absence and presence of key players will undoubtedly play a significant role in the outcome. The Dolphins will look to capitalize on their home-field advantage, while the Patriots will seek to navigate their injury challenges as they strive for a strong showing in Week 2.
