Dillon Gabriel leads the charge as Browns secure first victory over Dolphins
Dillon Gabriel reflects on Cleveland Browns’ success after their decisive win against Miami Dolphins
The Cleveland Browns have officially broken into the win column, with quarterback Dillon Gabriel leading the charge in their commanding 31-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins at home in Week 7. This marks a significant milestone for Gabriel, who celebrated his first victory as the starting quarterback in the NFL.
Postgame, Gabriel emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving success. “I think just all together, try not to make it about myself, but I think, it’s just about the team – us finding a way to win, coming together, that’s what’s most important,” he said. “Winning is fun, and you know that your attention to detail has to be at a high level to continue to do this.”
Gabriel’s efficient performance
In challenging weather conditions, Gabriel displayed poise and efficiency, completing 13 of 18 pass attempts for 116 yards. His steady presence allowed the Browns to execute a well-rounded game plan, particularly in the ground game. Gabriel lauded fellow rookie Quinshon Judkins, who had an outstanding performance, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 84 yards.
“You know, I think anytime you can get plus one in the run game, you can utilize that. And have ultimate trust in Quinshon,” Gabriel remarked. “But also, what we want to do in short yardage, and the more versatile we can be there, the more it’s going to help us for sure, so proud of Quinshon for sure.”
Growing momentum for the Browns
With this victory, Gabriel is not only establishing himself as a leader but also igniting hope for the Browns as they look to build momentum throughout the remainder of the season. “I think the more film you put together as a unit, there’s more to take away,” he stated. “There’s a lot of areas that we improve week-to-week that we want to improve on.”
Gabriel acknowledged that while they had a strong showing against the Dolphins, there are still critical areas needing attention, particularly in the red zone and on third downs. “Not one area will just allow you to win, of course, there are certain areas that will, but when you come together with all three areas, everyone leaves the field a lot happier, because you put yourself in a good spot to go win games,” he explained.
As the Browns continue to refine their performance, Gabriel remains focused on achieving marginal gains each week. “That’s all you can do,” he concluded, embodying the spirit of resilience that defines this young Browns team as they look to make their mark this season.
