Jack White to Headline Thanksgiving Halftime Show for Lions

The Detroit Lions have made a thrilling announcement regarding their upcoming Thanksgiving game, revealing that acclaimed musician Jack White will take center stage during the halftime show. This performance adds a unique flair to the Lions’ annual matchup with the Green Bay Packers, set to kick off at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 27, at Ford Field in Detroit.

A Michigan Native Takes the Stage

Jack White, a celebrated figure in the music industry and a proud Michigan native, is widely recognized for his work as the lead singer of The White Stripes and his flourishing solo career. His recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month underscores his lasting impact on the music scene. With a staggering 12 Grammy Awards to his name, White’s artistry has consistently resonated, making him an ideal choice for the Lions’ Thanksgiving festivities.

“Born and raised in Detroit as the youngest of 10 siblings, Jack White’s utilitarian approach filters through all his work,” the Lions noted in a press release. This multifaceted talent not only produces his own music but also oversees a diverse range of creative ventures through his Third Man Records label.

Collaboration for a Cause

White’s performance is part of a larger initiative in collaboration with Verizon, which aims to engage fans in meaningful ways. On game day, attendees will have the opportunity to assemble hunger-relief kits outside Ford Field, showcasing a commitment to community support alongside the excitement of the game.

White’s connection to Detroit extends beyond his music; he has shown his allegiance to local sports teams. This past summer, he made an appearance during a Detroit Tigers game, further rooting himself in the fabric of the city’s sports culture.

National Anthem by CeCe Winans

In addition to White’s halftime performance, the Lions have announced that 17-time Grammy Award winner CeCe Winans will sing the national anthem before kickoff. Like White, Winans is also a Detroit native and has received accolades including induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Recent Halftime Performers and Team Outlook

The Lions’ Thanksgiving halftime show has a history of featuring notable artists. Recent performers have included Shaboozey (2024), Jack Harlow (2023), Bebe Rexha (2022), and Big Sean (2021). As the Lions sit at a promising 6-3 ahead of their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles this week, they will also face the New York Giants before hosting the Packers on Thanksgiving, adding to the stakes of the holiday game.

With Jack White headlining this year’s halftime entertainment, fans can look forward to an electrifying show that honors both the team and the vibrant musical legacy of Detroit.
