Lions Prepare for Thanksgiving Clash with Packers
The Detroit Lions are gearing up for a crucial Thanksgiving matchup against the Green Bay Packers, with the game set to kick off on Thursday afternoon. Head coach Dan Campbell addressed the media on Monday, providing updates on the injury status of cornerback Terrion Arnold, who has been sidelined due to a brain injury.
Injury Updates on Terrion Arnold
Campbell expressed optimism about Arnold’s return, suggesting that the cornerback has a viable chance to clear concussion protocol in time for the game. Arnold reportedly made progress by clearing the first step of the protocol on Monday. Campbell lightheartedly noted that Arnold participated in practice in full pads, highlighting the productivity of the session.
With the game just days away, the Lions plan to conduct two walkthroughs leading up to the NFC North showdown, emphasizing preparation amid a tight schedule.
Team’s Injury Report Insights
On Monday, the Lions released their first estimated injury report of the week, revealing several players who did not participate in practice. Kerby Joseph, Graham Glasgow, Kalif Raymond, and Brock Wright were among those listed as non-participants. Meanwhile, players like Arnold, Brian Branch, Taylor Decker, Tate Ratledge, Jacob Saylors, Penei Sewell, and Isaac TeSlaa were noted as limited participants.
In contrast, Marcus Davenport, Miles Frazier, and Josh Paschal fully participated, although the team remains uncertain about activating Paschal (back) or Frazier (knee) for Thursday’s game.
Seeking Redemption Against the Packers
This Thanksgiving showdown carries extra weight for the Lions, who are looking to avenge a disappointing 27-13 loss to the Packers in Week 1 at Lambeau Field. Linebacker Jack Campbell spoke about the importance of peaking at this point in the season, emphasizing that the focus must remain on playing their best football as they head into the final stretch of the year.
“At this point in the year, we’re going to be playing our best football, middle, end of November, going into December, January. This is the time where we make that push,” Campbell stated. “It’s one game at a time. So we found a way. Hats off to us about that, but we’re just focused on the next one.”
Game Preparation Underway
Quarterback Jared Goff also shared insights into the team’s preparation, noting that the work begins immediately. “Yeah, you start watching it tonight. As soon as you get home, get to work. I think our coaches are probably on their way to the facility to get to work themselves,” Goff remarked.
He acknowledged the significance of the Thanksgiving tradition and the familiarity with facing the Packers. “Division game, at our place, Thanksgiving, everything you want. They’re a great team, and we’ll be ready,” Goff added.
As the Lions navigate a quick turnaround, the focus remains clear: recover, prepare, and seize the opportunity to make a statement against a rival on one of football’s most celebrated days.
