Deion Sanders predicts son Shedeur will rise to starting quarterback for Browns, with patience as key to NFL dream

Deion Sanders shares bold predictions for son Shedeur’s NFL future

In a recent episode of the “New Heights” podcast hosted by the Kelce brothers, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders opened up about various topics, but the spotlight naturally gravitated toward his son, Shedeur Sanders, and his burgeoning NFL career. Without hesitation, Sanders expressed his belief that his son is on track to become the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.

Patience as a Virtue

During the podcast, Sanders emphasized the importance of patience in Shedeur’s journey. He advised his son to remain prepared, noting that he believes a starting opportunity is imminent. “I got a prediction, but I ain’t tell nobod, I got a feeling when it’s going to go down,” Sanders shared. “It’s going to go down this year.”

This insight reflects a blend of fatherly advice and keen observation, illustrating how critical timing and readiness are in the competitive landscape of the NFL.

Draft Day Decisions

Sanders also revealed that on draft day, Shedeur had multiple teams expressing interest, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and of course, the Browns. However, the decision-making process was not straightforward. Despite Deion’s past with the Ravens, Shedeur opted against joining them, wary of becoming a backup to star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

“I don’t want to say how it went, but how in the world can somebody fault him for saying or thinking, why in the world would I go back up Lamar for 10 years?” Deion explained. The sentiment resonates with many young athletes who face the dilemma of choosing immediate playing time versus the allure of a prestigious franchise.

Cleveland’s Opportunity

The decision to align with the Browns seems to be paying off for Shedeur. His impressive performance during the preseason has bolstered his chances of earning a starting position. With the current landscape in Cleveland, he finds himself in a more favorable situation compared to if he had been drafted by teams with established quarterbacks.

As Deion Sanders pointed out, the combination of Shedeur’s talent and the opportunities available in Cleveland could pave the way for him to become a starting quarterback sooner rather than later. The road ahead may be challenging, but with patience and preparation, the Sanders family believes that Shedeur is poised to make his mark in the NFL.
