Dallas Cowboys urged to unleash Ryan Flournoy, Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Donovan Ezeiruaku after bye week boost

The Dallas Cowboys find themselves at a pivotal moment in the season, emerging from their Week 10 bye with fresh opportunities and renewed potential. As the team gears up for the second half of the season, a strategic look at their roster reveals three players who deserve an increase in their playing time. Enhancing their roles could be crucial for the Cowboys as they look to capitalize on their recent moves and maintain momentum.

Brevyn Spann-Ford makes his mark

Tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford has proven himself as one of the league’s premier blocking tight ends, showcasing his skills effectively in his second year. After nine games, he boasts an impressive 83.4 blocking grade, ranking second in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. Despite this achievement, Spann-Ford has only participated in a mere 20.8 percent of the Cowboys’ offensive snaps.

While concerns about his contributions in the passing game may have limited his playing time, it raises questions about the decision to favor Luke Schoonmaker over him. With Schoonmaker failing to make a significant impact, it seems only logical for the Cowboys to leverage Spann-Ford’s talents more frequently as they aim to bolster their offensive strategy.

Ryan Flournoy seizing his moment

Wide receiver Ryan Flournoy, also in his second year, is another player who has made the most of his limited opportunities. With only 35.9 percent of the offensive snaps to his name, Flournoy has still managed to record 16 receptions for 198 yards, including his first career touchdown in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cowboys initially hoped that KaVontae Turpin would step up as their WR3, but Flournoy’s consistent performance suggests he may be the better option to support stars CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. As the team looks to enhance its aerial attack, increasing Flournoy’s involvement could provide a much-needed spark.

Donovan Ezeiruaku on the rise

Defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku is a name that has already caught the Cowboys’ attention, especially after his first start in Week 9. The rookie from Boston College made a strong impression by recording the second sack of his career, showcasing his potential as a valuable asset on defense.

Currently, Ezeiruaku participates in 51.6 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, more than any other defensive end. However, to accelerate his development and maximize his impact, the Cowboys should aim to increase his playing time further. Balancing player rotation is essential, but giving Ezeiruaku the opportunity to grow on the field will be crucial in their quest for success.

As the Cowboys prepare for the remainder of the season, these three players—Brevyn Spann-Ford, Ryan Flournoy, and Donovan Ezeiruaku—represent untapped potential that could significantly influence the team’s performance. By making strategic adjustments to their playing time, the Cowboys may enhance their chances of making a deep playoff run.
