Dallas Cowboys bolster defense with key roster additions
The Dallas Cowboys made a pivotal move on Tuesday by adding two players to their active roster, potentially rejuvenating their beleaguered defense ahead of Week 11.
Season of Struggles for the Defense
Under the guidance of defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, the Cowboys have faced significant challenges this season, currently ranking 31st in both yards and points allowed. This disappointing performance prompted owner Jerry Jones to make strategic adjustments during the NFL trade deadline. Notably, the team acquired defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson, both expected to enhance the defensive lineup.
A Welcome Return for Overshown and Revel
In addition to these trades, the Cowboys are set to welcome back two players who could make an immediate impact. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who has been sidelined since suffering severe knee injuries in December 2024, has been activated from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. His return marks a significant milestone in his recovery journey.
Joining him is rookie cornerback Shavon Revel Jr., who also faced a lengthy rehabilitation after tearing his ACL during his final season at East Carolina. His activation from the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list adds depth to a secondary that has been in need of reinforcements.
Both players bring a sense of optimism as the Cowboys look to turn their defensive fortunes around. In a season filled with ups and downs, the imminent return of Overshown and Revel could provide the Cowboys with the spark they need to regain their footing in the competitive NFC landscape.
