Dak Prescott’s Determination to Finish Strong
Dak Prescott has been enjoying one of the finest seasons of his NFL career, culminating in a well-deserved selection for the Pro Bowl Games this past Tuesday. Despite his personal achievements, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves with their postseason aspirations dashed, leaving just two weeks remaining in the regular season.
Fight to Stay on the Field
With speculation swirling around the possibility of benching Prescott for the final games, the quarterback has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of sitting out. When asked about the prospect of resting due to the Cowboys’ elimination from playoff contention, Prescott immediately dismissed the idea. He humorously remarked that he would “fight” head coach Brian Schottenheimer if he were benched.
“Especially on Christmas Day, man,” Prescott expressed during a media session, emphasizing the significance of the upcoming game.
The Importance of the Season’s Finale
Prescott elaborated on his motivation, saying, “I’d fight him (on it), particularly right now going to this game, getting a chance to play on Christmas Day, first time.” The quarterback noted that being away from his family is tough enough, but the thought of not being able to play the game he loves makes it even harder. “I’m not trying to be away from my family if I’m not going to get to play this game and finish a good individual season off strong,” he added.
With impressive stats under his belt, Prescott aims to not only increase his game count from 15 to 17 but also to conclude the season on a high note. “We were just talking about how important it is to stop this losing streak and finish the season off with two wins. So, yeah, I’d play, and I’d fight him for it,” he declared.
Chasing New Milestones
The drive to compete stems not only from personal aspirations but also from the opportunity to claim the NFL passing yards title. As the season progresses, Prescott is nearing a significant career milestone. In 2023, he led the league in passing touchdowns with 28, yet he has never topped the charts in passing yards. With 4,175 yards already thrown this season, he is just four yards behind the current leader, Matthew Stafford, who is also a contender for the league MVP.
Prescott’s performance has been stellar, boasting a QBR of 73.1, which ranks him second in the league. His enthusiasm to finish the season strong, especially as the Cowboys prepare to face their rivals, reflects his competitive spirit and dedication to both his team and his personal goals.
Looking Ahead
As the Cowboys gear up for their Christmas Day matchup, Prescott’s commitment to playing is certain to resonate with fans. The quarterback’s determination to remain on the field, coupled with his pursuit of individual accolades, sets the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season. The stakes may be lower for the team, but for Prescott, every game is a chance to prove his worth and finish on a high note.
