Cowboys reinforce o-line with Wesley French reunion ahead of Bears showdown

As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for their Week 3 clash against the Chicago Bears, they have made a strategic move to bolster their offensive line. The team has signed center Wesley French to their practice squad, following the unfortunate injury of starting center Cooper Beebe.

Injury Strikes Beebe

Beebe, who played a crucial role in the Cowboys’ recent overtime victory over the New York Giants, has been placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury sustained during the game. This development necessitated immediate action from the Cowboys’ front office to ensure they maintain depth along the offensive line.

Familiarity with the Coaching Staff

Wesley French is no stranger to the Cowboys’ coaching staff, particularly offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, under whom he played during his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts. French brings valuable experience to the team, having appeared in 17 NFL games with three starts. His familiarity with Adams could ease his transition back into a competitive environment.

A Brief History with the Cowboys

French initially joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan in 2022. However, he was released during the final roster cuts this season. Despite this setback, his previous experience with the organization positions him as a reliable option as the team navigates Beebe’s absence.

Depth in the Trenches

While French may not be immediately called upon to take on a starting role, his addition to the practice squad provides the Cowboys with essential depth in the offensive line. The team’s current linemen possess versatility, allowing them to fill gaps as needed. Nevertheless, having an extra body in the trenches is always a prudent move, especially as the Cowboys prepare for the physical demands of an NFL season.

Looking Ahead

The Cowboys are set to face the Bears this coming week, and with the addition of French, they aim to ensure that their offensive line remains solid. As they continue their preparations, the team is focused on maximizing their effectiveness on both sides of the ball, hoping to build on their recent successes.
