Cowboys’ offensive line woes deepen as Tyler Guyton enters concussion protocol ahead of crucial Week 5 showdown

Injury Concerns Mount for Cowboys Ahead of Week 5 Matchup

The Dallas Cowboys are grappling with a growing list of injuries, particularly on their offensive line, as they prepare for a crucial Week 5 clash against the New York Jets. The latest setback comes with starting tackle Tyler Guyton entering concussion protocol following a head injury sustained during a hard-fought overtime game against the Green Bay Packers.

Tyler Guyton’s Concussion

Guyton’s exit from the game was a significant blow for the Cowboys, who are already dealing with the loss of key offensive linemen. After the game, he confirmed his status within the concussion protocol, adding uncertainty to his availability for the upcoming matchup. This marks a troubling trend for Guyton, who also missed portions of training camp and preseason due to a knee injury.

A Depleted Offensive Line

The Cowboys’ offensive line situation is critical. Currently, they are without starting center Cooper Beebe and right guard Tyler Booker, both sidelined with high-ankle sprains. Beebe’s injury occurred during their Week 2 victory over the New York Giants, while Booker was hurt in a Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears. Both players are expected to be out for six to eight weeks, exacerbating the team’s challenges as they navigate through the season.

Looking Ahead to Week 5

As Dallas prepares for their October 5 showdown at MetLife Stadium, the coaching staff will monitor Guyton closely throughout the week to determine if he can return to action. The Cowboys can ill afford further injuries, particularly to a unit that is crucial for protecting the quarterback and establishing the run game.

The stakes are high as the Cowboys seek to rebound from their recent performance against the Packers. Kickoff against the Jets is set for 1:00 p.m. ET, and the absence of another starter could significantly impact the team’s chances on the field. With the pressure mounting, all eyes will be on the Cowboys’ training room as they assess their options leading into the pivotal matchup.
