Colts call up Mike Hilton as key defensive piece for critical clash with Rams amid injury woes

Colts Elevate Mike Hilton to Bolster Defense Against Rams

As the Indianapolis Colts prepare for a pivotal showdown with the Los Angeles Rams, they have made strategic moves to shore up their roster. Today, the Colts announced the elevation of cornerback Mike Hilton and guard Josh Sills from the practice squad, a decision that comes in light of critical injuries impacting the team’s defense.

Injury Concerns Prompt Roster Changes

The Colts’ secondary has taken a significant hit with the news that starting nickel corner Kenny Moore II is expected to be sidelined for the next few weeks due to an Achilles injury. Moore sustained this injury during last Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, where he notably returned an interception for a touchdown, setting the tone early in the contest. His absence leaves a considerable void in the defensive lineup, prompting Indianapolis to seek immediate reinforcements.

Hilton, who recently signed with the Colts, brings a wealth of experience to the team. He spent the last four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he developed a strong rapport with Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The two worked closely together in Cincinnati, and Anarumo had previously hosted Hilton for a workout in Indianapolis just a month ago. However, the timing of Hilton’s signing was contingent upon the injuries that have recently struck the secondary.

Looking Ahead to the Rams Matchup

With Hilton now officially on the active roster, the Colts are hopeful that his experience will help stabilize a defense that is now facing significant challenges. The need for depth and effective play in the secondary has never been more urgent, as the Colts gear up for a crucial matchup against a formidable Rams offense.

The Colts are counting on Hilton’s skills to make an immediate impact. As they head into this important game, the focus will be on how well the defense can adapt and respond to the challenges posed by the Rams, while Hilton looks to prove himself in his new role.
