Cody Barton vows to tackle Titans’ penalty woes and ignite a winning streak against Rams in Week 2

Cody Barton Aims to Address Titans’ Penalty Struggles Ahead of Rams Showdown

Tennessee Titans linebacker Cody Barton is determined to steer his team back on course following a disappointing start to the season. The Titans fell to the Denver Broncos in their Week 1 matchup, suffering a 20-12 defeat that highlighted critical issues on both sides of the ball.

Penalty Problems Plague the Titans

In their opener, the Titans found themselves on the wrong end of a staggering 13 penalties, which cost the team 131 yards. These infractions proved detrimental to their chances of securing a much-needed victory. Following the game, Barton addressed the elephant in the room: the team’s excessive penalties.

“It’s just something we got to clean up as a team,” Barton remarked. “I don’t know how many were on defense or offense, but just as a group, it hurts the team no matter what side of the ball it’s on. So that’s definitely something we’re going to be talking about.”

Despite the setbacks, Barton maintained a level of optimism, noting that the game remained competitive. “Even with all that said, we still had a chance to go and tie the game,” he explained, highlighting a silver lining in an otherwise frustrating outing.

Room for Improvement

Barton and the Titans recognize that they have set a baseline performance, but there is ample opportunity for growth. The linebacker emphasized that learning how to win together is essential, especially considering the team’s struggles in the previous season, which saw them claim just three victories.

“The wins are going to start coming. I believe—I can feel it in my bones—the wins are going to start coming,” Barton declared with conviction. “We just have to stay together, block out the outside noise, and just clean some things up.”

With the Titans gearing up for a crucial Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Barton is hopeful that the team can rectify their mistakes and find a path to victory. If they can work on minimizing penalties, the Titans believe their fortunes could turn around quickly.

As the Titans look to bounce back, Barton’s leadership and determination will be vital in guiding the team toward a brighter outcome. The upcoming game presents an opportunity to not only improve their record but also to establish a foundation for success moving forward.
