Cleveland Browns face injury challenges ahead of Titans showdown
The Cleveland Browns are gearing up for a crucial Week 14 contest against the Tennessee Titans. While this matchup presents a favorable opportunity for the Browns, their chances hinge on fielding their strongest lineup. Unfortunately, a series of injuries and strategic decisions have left them short-handed.
Injuries Impacting the Offensive Line
One of the key players missing from the lineup is offensive tackle Jack Conklin. Currently in the league’s concussion protocol, Conklin will not face his former team. In his absence, KT Leveston is set to step in as the starting right tackle. Head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed optimism about Leveston’s capabilities, stating, “We got KT later in the process, wasn’t with us through the spring and the summer, but has played meaningful snaps for us and is someone that we trust. Brings a great physicality to the game. So, fits in well.”
Adding to the offensive line woes, right guard Wyatt Teller will also be sidelined due to a calf injury. This means Teven Jenkins will take over at right guard, leaving the Browns with two starting offensive linemen unavailable for the game.
Running Back Rotation Adjustments
In the backfield, Raheim Sanders has been designated as a healthy scratch for the Titans game. This decision opens the door for rookie second-round pick Quinshon Judkins, along with Dylan Sampson and veteran Jerome Ford, to carry the load in the run game.
Wide Receiver Depth Tested
The wide receiver corps will also feel the impact of injuries, as Jamari Thrash joins the list of healthy scratches. With Thrash out, the Browns will rely on a quintet of receivers: Isaiah Bond, Malachi Corley, Jerry Jeudy, Gage Larvadain, and Cedric Tillman, who will be catching passes from quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Tight End Situation
At tight end, Brenden Bates is sidelined due to an ankle injury, meaning that David Njoku, Harold Fannin Jr., and Blake Whiteheart will absorb all tight end responsibilities during the game.
Defensive Line Adjustments
On the defensive side, defensive tackle Adin Huntington is inactive for the second consecutive week due to a quad injury. This season, Huntington has recorded 12 tackles across ten games for the Browns. In his place, rookie Mason Graham, Mike Hall Jr., and Shelby Harris will step in as the defensive tackles.
Game Day Information
Kickoff for the Browns-Titans matchup is set for 1 p.m. ET at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. Fans can catch the action on FOX or stream it via the FOX One app or the NFL app. With several key players unavailable, the Browns will need to dig deep to secure a victory against the Titans.
