Chiefs Eye Dolphins’ Hidden Gem Jaylen Wright to Bolster Struggling Offense

The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in a precarious position with a 1-2 record, prompting discussions about potential roster adjustments to reignite their offense. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has identified an intriguing target who could provide the spark the Chiefs desperately need: Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright.

Wright’s Declining Role in Miami

Despite being only in his second year, Wright has seen his stock fall within the Dolphins’ depth chart. With De’Von Achane and Ollie Gordon emerging as key contributors, Wright has been sidelined, unable to showcase his talents. Fowler highlighted this situation, noting, “The running game still needs help. Miami isn’t playing running back Jaylen Wright, who had a lot of fans in the 2024 draft. It might be worth a call for Kansas City.”

A Promising College Career

Wright’s journey began at the University of Tennessee, where he made a name for himself as a reliable and dynamic running back. His performance in college garnered attention, leading to his selection by the Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, coming off the board at 120th overall.

During his rookie season, Wright appeared in 15 games, showcasing his potential with 68 carries for 249 yards, averaging 3.7 yards per attempt. He also contributed in the passing game, catching three passes for eight yards. However, his opportunities to build on that foundation have been limited in the early stages of this season, as he has yet to see the field for regular-season action.

Potential Fit for Kansas City

As the Chiefs continue to seek ways to enhance their offensive effectiveness, Wright’s skill set could be a valuable addition. His blend of speed and agility might provide the Chiefs with the versatility they need in the backfield. With the team struggling to find consistency, bringing in a player like Wright could offer fresh energy and a new dimension to their attack.

As the season progresses, the Chiefs may need to act swiftly to secure Wright’s services if they hope to turn their fortunes around. The combination of his untapped potential and the Chiefs’ current offensive challenges makes this a scenario worth monitoring closely.
