The Los Angeles Chargers faced a challenging showdown against the Denver Broncos in Week 3, a game that saw their offensive line unravel under pressure. The promising start to the season quickly dissipated as injuries took a toll on key players.

Early Struggles in the Trenches

The Chargers’ offensive line, which had shown resilience in the first two weeks, found itself overwhelmed in the early stages of the game. Right tackle Trey Pipkins was the first to feel the effects, exiting briefly with an injury to his right foot or ankle. The offensive line’s performance was far from stellar, as they allowed nine pressures on quarterback Justin Herbert in the first quarter alone, translating to an alarming 64 percent pressure rate. The struggles culminated in a critical moment in the second quarter when Herbert threw his first interception of the season. Caught in a collapsing pocket, the pass was tipped, leading to a turnover that could have significant implications for the Chargers moving forward.

As trainers continued to attend to Pipkins’ injury during the final series of the quarter, the Chargers faced a precarious situation. Without reliable depth to counteract injuries or poor performance, the team’s ability to compete at a high level was put in jeopardy.
