C.J. Stroud Returns to Texans Lineup for Key Matchup Against Colts

The Houston Texans are set to welcome back quarterback C.J. Stroud as they gear up to face the Indianapolis Colts, following a three-week absence due to a concussion. After the Texans completed their final practice leading into the game, head coach DeMeco Ryans announced that both Stroud and defensive back Jalen Pitre have been cleared from the NFL’s concussion protocol.

“Jalen [Pitre] and C.J. [Stroud] have both cleared the concussion protocol, so we’re expecting both guys to participate on Sunday,” Ryans confirmed.

Injury Background and Impact

Stroud and Pitre suffered their concussions during Houston’s Week 9 matchup against the Denver Broncos, sidelining them for the past few weeks. During their absence, Davis Mills stepped into the quarterback role and managed to keep the Texans competitive, leading the team to a remarkable 3-0 record. Mills orchestrated a dramatic 19-0 comeback against the Jacksonville Jaguars, secured a narrow victory over the Tennessee Titans, and triumphed over the Buffalo Bills, the reigning MVP led by Josh Allen, under the spotlight of Thursday Night Football.

A Critical Return

Now, with both Stroud and Pitre returning to practice fully, they are ready to rejoin the Texans as they prepare for a crucial division clash against the Colts. Stroud’s return solidifies his position as Houston’s starting quarterback, while Pitre will resume his role as a pivotal playmaker on defense.

“We’re happy to have C.J. [Stroud] back,” Ryans expressed. “Whoever’s playing for us, whatever the position is, we just ask everybody to go out and do their job to the best of their ability. The offense needs to play efficiently, and the defense must work together, swarming to the football.”

Looking Ahead

As Stroud returns to the helm, he aims to lead the Texans to what would be their fourth consecutive victory, pushing their record to 7-5. The team is eager to maintain the offensive momentum built during Stroud’s absence, leveraging the successes achieved under Mills.

With the Colts on the horizon, the Texans are poised for a showdown that could reshape their season. As both teams prepare for battle, the stakes are high, and the return of Stroud adds an exhilarating layer to the matchup.
