C.J. Stroud shines as Texans secure sixth consecutive victory
The Houston Texans are riding high on the momentum generated by their star quarterback, C.J. Stroud, following a commanding 40-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. This win marks the Texans’ sixth straight, while Stroud celebrates his third consecutive triumph since returning to action after a three-week stint sidelined by a concussion.
Stroud’s standout performance
In what head coach DeMeco Ryans described as one of Stroud’s finest outings this season, the young signal-caller showcased his talent by completing 22 of 29 passes for an impressive 260 yards. He also threw for three touchdowns, marking the second time this season he has reached that milestone. Stroud’s ability to perform under pressure has not gone unnoticed by his teammates.
Teammates rally behind Stroud
Veteran offensive lineman Tytus Howard expressed strong confidence in Stroud’s abilities, asserting that the quarterback ranks among the elite in the NFL. “I know people give C.J. a lot of stuff, but C.J. is one of the best quarterbacks in the league,” Howard said following the Texans’ victory. “When we do what we’re supposed to do and give him time, I think he’s one of the best.”
Howard attributes part of Stroud’s success to his composure on the field, a quality often associated with former starter Davis Mills. “He’s cool, calm, collected,” Howard noted. “No matter if something bad happens, he’s just very encouraging for the guys. Like, ‘Hey, let’s move on to the next play, I believe in you’ type of guy. So, that’s good as an offensive line, because we know that our quarterback has us 100%.”

Despite facing some challenges earlier in the season, Stroud has shown steady improvement since his return. Each game under his belt has translated into better performance, driving the Texans’ offense to new heights compared to the first half of the campaign.
