C.J. Stroud shines in Texans’ pivotal victory
The Houston Texans welcomed back their starting quarterback, C.J. Stroud, for a critical Week 13 clash against the Indianapolis Colts, and the young signal-caller did not disappoint. This matchup marked a significant moment for the Texans, as they aimed for their fourth consecutive win, pushing their season record to 7-5.
Stroud, returning from a three-game stint on the sidelines due to concussion protocol, showcased his potential by completing 22 of 35 passes for 276 yards. Although he threw one interception, his performance helped propel the Texans to a solid offensive showing, culminating in 20 points on the scoreboard.
Ryans praises Stroud’s performance
Following the game, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans expressed his satisfaction with Stroud’s return to action. He commended the quarterback for his ability to lead the offense effectively after being away from the field.
“I thought C.J. did a really nice job coming back, missing a lot of time,” Ryans remarked during his postgame press conference. “I know there are some throws he would like to have back. But overall, I thought he managed the drives really well.”
Ryans highlighted the importance of Stroud’s performance, noting that it sets a positive foundation for his continued development. “For him, coming back after not playing for a few weeks, I thought he did a really nice job of, if this is where he’s starting, it’s only up from here. I’m excited to see how he continues to progress.”
As the Texans look ahead, Stroud’s resurgence could prove vital in their pursuit of a playoff spot, and his ability to build on this performance will be a key storyline in the weeks to come.
