Buffalo Bills bolster roster with Mecole Hardman after tryouts
The Buffalo Bills are making a significant move to address their recent struggles by signing three-time Super Bowl champion Mecole Hardman. This decision comes on the heels of a disappointing loss to the Miami Dolphins, prompting the Bills to explore fresh talent.
Tryouts in Orchard Park
In their effort to strengthen the roster, Buffalo hosted five players for tryouts in Orchard Park, comprising three wide receivers and two defensive linemen. Among them were two former Kansas City Chiefs and a familiar face from the Bills’ past. Hardman stood out during the workouts and has now officially joined the Bills’ practice squad.
Injury woes on the defensive line
Despite the excitement surrounding Hardman’s addition, the Bills are still looking for depth on their defensive line. During the tryouts, defensive end Demone Harris and defensive tackle Morgan Fox failed to secure contracts. With edge rusher Landon Jackson placed on Injured Reserve, the team’s defensive line is stretched thin as they deal with injuries to key players, including Ed Oliver, TJ Sanders, and DeWayne Carter, who is out for the season. Michael Hoecht is also sidelined, further complicating the team’s situation.
Wide receiver reinforcements
In addition to Hardman, the Bills evaluated undrafted rookie Jimmy Holiday and former Colorado State standout Jalen Virgil. Holiday recently signed with the Chiefs, showcasing the competitive nature of the current roster landscape.
After a promising start to the season at 4-0, the Bills have faltered, losing three of their last five games. The urgency for reinforcements is palpable as the team seeks to regain momentum in a challenging season. Adding a player of Hardman’s caliber could inject much-needed energy and playmaking ability into the offensive unit, as the Bills look to bolster their playoff aspirations.
