Browns set to unleash Quinshon Judkins following contract signing

The Cleveland Browns are on the cusp of integrating rookie Quinshon Judkins into their offensive lineup as the NFL regular season progresses. Over the weekend, the talented second-round pick officially signed his contract, clearing the way for his potential debut on the field.

This signing comes on the heels of a tumultuous summer for Judkins, who faced a domestic violence charge that has since been dropped by prosecutors. Although he remains under investigation by the NFL regarding the league’s personal conduct policy, his contract is now finalized, allowing him to practice and play for the Browns this week, should the coaching staff choose to utilize him.

Head coach weighs in on Judkins’ readiness

Questions surrounding Judkins’ availability for the upcoming Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens were posed to head coach Kevin Stefanski. His response was measured, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding the rookie’s return to action.

“We’ll see,” Stefanski stated when asked about Judkins’ status. “Gotta get through this week of practice. I don’t know.”

Judkins’ impressive college career

Before joining the Browns, Judkins made a name for himself at Ohio State, where he starred during the 2024 season. His performance was pivotal in the Buckeyes’ backfield, where he teamed up with TreVeyon Henderson, a second-round pick for the New England Patriots, to secure a national championship.

Judkins was acquired by Cleveland as part of the trade deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, which saw the Browns move up to the No. 2 overall pick to select Travis Hunter.

Current running back landscape

At present, the Browns are relying on Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson as their primary running backs. Sampson had a notably active Week 1, racking up 20 touches, which included eight receptions. The prospect of a backfield featuring both Judkins and Sampson—two promising rookies—could spell a bright future for the Browns’ ground game.

As the team continues to navigate the early season, the combination of youthful energy and talent in the backfield offers plenty of excitement for fans and coaches alike.
