Britain Covey’s Inside Edge for Eagles Against Rams

Britain Covey, a member of the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad, finds himself in a unique position ahead of this week’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Having spent the summer training with the Rams, Covey possesses valuable insights into their strategies and players. However, he remains tight-lipped about the specifics of his knowledge.

A Summer with the Rams

Covey was determined to secure a spot on the Rams’ roster during the offseason. Despite his efforts, he fell short and was ultimately released after training camp. Shortly thereafter, the Eagles signed him to their practice squad, where he continues to await his opportunity for elevation to the active roster.

Reflecting on his time with the Rams, Covey remarked, “It feels weird, but I feel at home here for sure. I bleed green. I love it here.” For him, the experience was akin to an intensive learning program, enhancing his skills as a player. “It was really like a six-month learning study abroad,” he noted, highlighting the growth he experienced during that time.

Reintegration into the Eagles’ System

Now back with the Eagles, Covey is focused on reintegrating himself into the team’s system. He acknowledges that he is still getting accustomed to the nuances of the offense. “By the end of this week, next week, I’ll feel fully ingrained back into it,” he said, signaling his commitment to contributing wherever he can.

Last season, Covey began to carve out a role in the offense, but injuries sidelined him after the third week. In those early games, he recorded seven receptions for 34 yards, showing promise that he hopes to build upon when he returns to the field.

Building Chemistry with Jalen Hurts

Despite the setbacks, Covey maintains a strong connection with quarterback Jalen Hurts. “Once you get hurt, it’s tough,” he admitted, but he emphasized that their chemistry remains intact. Even off the field, he strives to impact the game positively. “I’ve always tried to affect the games in ways other than when I’m playing,” Covey explained. Currently, he is actively involved in special teams and film study, offering insights to teammates about the Rams’ offensive tactics.

Potential Impact on the Eagles’ Special Teams

As the Eagles prepare for their Sunday showdown against the Rams, there is speculation about Covey’s role. Could he provide a much-needed boost to the Eagles’ punt return game? His experiences and insights could prove invaluable, especially as the team looks to maximize every advantage against their opponent.

Covey’s journey illustrates not only his resilience but also his commitment to the Eagles. As he transitions back into the team, he aims to leverage his summer spent with the Rams to help Philadelphia secure a crucial victory.
