Brian Schottenheimer’s Hilarious ‘Big Back’ Moment at Cowboys Press Conference
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer brought laughter to Wednesday’s press conference with an unintentional slip that would make Sir Mix-a-Lot proud. As he praised running back Javonte Williams, Schottenheimer’s choice of words took a humorous turn, leading to a memorable moment.
A Breath of Fresh Air
In his inaugural season at the helm of the Cowboys, Schottenheimer has infused the team with a vibrant energy, earning the admiration of both players and the media alike. Known for his candidness, he often shares his thoughts without a filter, which sometimes results in amusing situations. This was certainly the case on Wednesday, as the team prepared to return to the practice field.
The Unintentional Slip
While discussing the talents of breakout star Javonte Williams, Schottenheimer enthusiastically stated, “I like big backs.” It was a phrase that, upon reflection, prompted a moment of realization and a chuckle from the coach himself. Channeling his inner Sir Mix-a-Lot, he humorously repeated his line in a nod to the famous song “Baby Got Back,” much to the delight of those in attendance.
Praise for Javonte Williams
Earlier in the conference, Schottenheimer acknowledged the Cowboys’ decision to take a chance on Williams, who has faced injury challenges since a promising rookie season. Now with the Cowboys, Williams is reestablishing himself and showcasing the skills that initially garnered attention when he played for the Denver Broncos.
“Each position is a little bit different, but when we dove into the background of the young man, there was no question in our mind that he was going to be back to normal,” Schottenheimer remarked. “We didn’t know if that’d be day one, and I don’t know if today he feels like he’s back to normal. The main thing for us is understanding that with these injuries, there’s a process, and it’s going to take eight, nine, ten months sometimes, but we bet right.”
Williams Shines on the Field
That bet appears to be paying off significantly. As the Cowboys head into Week 8, Williams ranks second in the NFL with 592 rushing yards and is tied for third with six rushing touchdowns. This Sunday, he will have the opportunity to further enhance those numbers when he faces off against his former team at Mile High. The matchup is set for 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS, and anticipation is high for the performance of both Williams and the Cowboys.
As Schottenheimer continues to bring humor and insight to the organization, fans are left hoping for more entertaining moments like the one that had everyone chuckling on Wednesday.
