Chubb Injury Raises Doubts for Dolphins Ahead of Ravens Showdown
The Miami Dolphins are bracing for a pivotal matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, but concerns about linebacker Bradley Chubb’s health have cast a shadow over their preparations.
Injury Report Highlights
As the Dolphins gear up for their Thursday night clash, they released their initial injury report on Monday, which was based on estimations due to the absence of a formal practice session. This report indicated that five players would likely not have participated had the team conducted a normal practice. Among those, Chubb stands out with shoulder and foot issues sustained during the Dolphins’ decisive 34-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. In that match, Chubb played 31 snaps, but his current status raises questions about his availability moving forward.
Chubb isn’t the only injury concern. Tight end Julian Hill, who missed the Falcons game due to an ankle injury, is also doubtful for the Ravens matchup. With a quick turnaround, Hill’s chances of returning to the lineup look slim, especially after he didn’t practice at all last week.
The injury woes extend to safety Ashtyn Davis (quad), cornerback Storm Duck (knee), and wide receiver Dee Eskridge (shoulder), all of whom were estimated as did not participate (DNP). Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Duck has suffered a season-ending injury, while Davis and Eskridge are categorized as day-to-day. However, the short week complicates their recovery.
Safety Depth Concerns
The Dolphins’ secondary is further strained, with two additional safeties on the injury report. Ifeatu Melifonwu (thumb) was estimated as a limited participant, while Minkah Fitzpatrick (thumb) was noted as a full participant. This development leaves the Dolphins with critical decisions to make in the face of mounting injuries.
On a brighter note, six other players, including quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (left thumb/illness), were estimated to be full participants. Alongside Tagovailoa, defensive back Elijah Campbell (quad), fullback Alec Ingold (neck), cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. (hamstring), safety Dante Trader Jr. (shoulder), and wide receiver Malik Washington (knee) are also expected to contribute.
Marshall, who was designated to return from injured reserve last week, could potentially fill Duck’s spot on the roster if Duck is officially placed on IR.
Ravens Ready to Roll
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens appear to be rallying after a shaky start to their season, which saw them at 2-5 before their recent victory over the Chicago Bears. The big news for Baltimore is the anticipated return of quarterback Lamar Jackson to the starting lineup. Coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence in Jackson’s readiness, stating, “We’ll expect him to be out there Thursday night.”
As the Dolphins prepare for this critical encounter, the health of key players like Chubb will be pivotal in determining their chances against a rejuvenated Ravens squad led by Jackson. The stakes are high for Miami as they seek to maintain momentum in a tightly contested season.
