Bradley Chubb celebrates milestone in Dolphins’ triumph
Bradley Chubb brought his signature celebration to the field once again during the Miami Dolphins’ Week 13 victory over the New Orleans Saints. This time, however, his elation stemmed from more than just a routine sack. The play marked his sixth sack of the season, triggering a lucrative incentive bonus of $1.225 million, as reported by Spotrac.
A calculated return
The veteran edge rusher made headlines earlier this year when he opted for a pay cut to remain with the Dolphins for a third season. Chubb originally joined Miami in November 2022 following a trade from the Denver Broncos, and his decision to restructure his contract reflected a commitment to the team. The new deal featured a significantly reduced base salary, with a cap number slashed by $16 million. However, it also included performance incentives tied to both playing time and production.
Incentives that pay off
Chubb’s impressive performance this season has not only bolstered the Dolphins’ defense but also positioned him for further financial rewards. With his sixth sack now in the books, he has already secured the $1.225 million bonus. The stakes remain high, as he stands to earn an additional $900,000 for reaching eight sacks and another $900,000 for both his 11th and 13th sacks.
Moreover, Chubb can add another $1.225 million to his earnings if he participates in at least 60 percent of the defensive snaps throughout the season. Each sack and snap counts, making every game a critical opportunity for the seasoned linebacker.
A pivotal player for the Dolphins
Chubb’s contributions extend beyond the financial realm; he has become a key player in the Dolphins’ defensive scheme. His ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks and make impactful plays is crucial as Miami seeks to solidify its playoff position. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Chubb to see if he can maintain his momentum and continue to hit these performance benchmarks.
With the Dolphins riding a wave of success, Chubb’s performance will be a focal point in the quest for a deep postseason run.
