Bo Nix earns Pro Bowl alternate spot amid Broncos’ standout season
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been named a second alternate for the 2026 NFL Pro Bowl, as reported by local sources. This recognition comes on the heels of an impressive performance by six of Nix’s teammates, who have been selected as Pro Bowl starters. Among them are right guard Quinn Meinerz, left tackle Garett Bolles, cornerback Patrick Surtain II, defensive end Zach Allen, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto, and wide receiver Courtland Sutton.
Nix’s Remarkable Rookie Season
Following a record-setting rookie campaign, Nix has been instrumental in leading the 12-3 Broncos to their best record since the 1998 Super Bowl-winning team. Over the course of 15 games, he has completed 348 passes for an impressive 3,608 yards, along with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Additionally, his mobility has been evident, as he has rushed for 265 yards and four touchdowns.
With a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Nix has the opportunity to achieve a significant milestone. He could secure the second-most wins (23) by any quarterback in NFL history during their first two seasons, a feat that would further bolster his burgeoning reputation.
A Setback Against Jacksonville
However, Nix’s bid for Pro Bowl recognition faced a setback following last Sunday’s 34-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In that game, he committed two turnovers, which proved costly for the Broncos. Reflecting on the defeat, Nix expressed a sense of urgency. “I think if you are not hunting, somebody is after you,” he stated. “We have put ourselves in a great position, but everyone is going to give us their best shot. We can’t afford to become complacent.”
Despite the disappointment, Nix remains optimistic about the team’s prospects moving forward. “Sometimes that happens in football, especially against strong competition. We have to respond well, and it’s going to show a lot about our team,” he added, emphasizing the resilience needed to bounce back.
Pro Bowl Future
Looking ahead, Nix could potentially be called upon to replace one of the three AFC quarterbacks selected for the Pro Bowl: Buffalo’s Josh Allen, Los Angeles’ Justin Herbert, and New England’s Drake Maye, should any of them advance to the Super Bowl. If that scenario unfolds, the league will be tasked with finding another alternate to fill Nix’s spot.
As the season progresses, all eyes will remain on Nix and the Broncos, who are positioning themselves as a formidable force in the league.
