Bo Nix Recognized as Pro Bowl Alternate Amidst Broncos’ Resurgence
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been named a second alternate for the 2026 NFL Pro Bowl, as reported on Tuesday by 9NEWS’ Mike Klis. Nix’s alternate status follows the announcement of six of his fellow Broncos players who earned spots as Pro Bowl starters: right guard Quinn Meinerz, left tackle Garett Bolles, cornerback Patrick Surtain II, defensive end Zach Allen, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto, and wide receiver Courtland Sutton.
Nix’s Stellar Rookie Season
In what has been a record-setting rookie campaign, Nix has played a crucial role in leading the Broncos to a remarkable 12-3 record, their best performance since the 1998 Super Bowl championship season. Over the course of 15 games, he has completed 348 passes for 3,608 yards, accumulating 24 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. Additionally, he has showcased his dual-threat capability with 265 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
A Missed Opportunity for Historical Achievement
With a pivotal matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Nix had the chance to secure the second-most wins (23) by a quarterback in their first two NFL seasons. However, that opportunity slipped away during last Sunday’s 34-20 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, where Nix struggled with two turnovers.
Reflecting on the game, Nix remarked, “I think if you are not hunting, somebody is after you, and if you’re after somebody else, then they’re the ones being in a tough spot. I think right now we have put ourselves in a great spot, in a great position. Everybody, we’re going to get their best shot respectively. We’re also continuing to try to go out there and find wins ourselves.”
Looking Ahead for the Broncos
Despite the setback, Nix emphasized the importance of avoiding complacency. “I think we just came out a little bit… Didn’t fire on every single cylinder, and we got caught. Sometimes that happens. It’s football, especially when you play this many games in the league, against really good competition and teams. We have to respond well, and it’s going to show a lot about our team.”
As the Pro Bowl approaches, Nix remains a potential candidate to fill in for one of the three AFC quarterbacks — Buffalo’s Josh Allen, Los Angeles’ Justin Herbert, and New England’s Drake Maye — should they advance to the Super Bowl. If called upon, the league will need to designate another alternate in his place.
The Broncos’ journey continues, and with Nix at the helm, their aspirations for the postseason remain alive.
