Bears eye trade for Dolphins’ star De’Von Achane to supercharge run game after underwhelming start by Swift and Monangai

Bears consider trade for Dolphins’ De’Von Achane to enhance struggling run game

The Chicago Bears are exploring options to bolster their running back position, particularly in light of the lackluster performances from D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai through the first three games of the season. Following a decisive victory over the Dallas Cowboys, where the Bears’ offense scored 31 points, the team finds itself in an unusual predicament—contemplating enhancements to a system that just had a successful outing.

Recent Offensive Success

In that recent game against Dallas, the Bears executed an impressive 19-play touchdown drive, highlighted by 11 consecutive running plays. The effectiveness of that drive might suggest that the running game is on the right track. However, NFL analysts caution against overreacting to a single performance, especially against a defense that has struggled throughout the season.

Despite the offensive fireworks, the overall productivity from the running back position remains a concern. Both Swift and Monangai are averaging less than 3.5 yards per carry, which raises questions about the effectiveness of their contributions. Notably, almost half of Chicago’s rushing yards have come from unexpected sources, including quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver DJ Moore.

The Case for Achane

In light of these statistics, some analysts have proposed that the Bears consider a trade for Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane. Achane, who has shown flashes of brilliance this season, is regarded as one of the most dynamic offensive playmakers on the Dolphins’ roster. His ability to create explosive plays could significantly enhance the Bears’ ground game, which has yet to find its stride.

The potential acquisition of Achane could provide the Bears with the spark they need to elevate their rushing attack, especially as they aim to build on their recent success. With the NFL landscape constantly evolving and teams always on the lookout for upgrades, it remains to be seen if Chicago will take the plunge to pursue a trade that could reshape their offensive identity.

As the Bears continue to assess their running game options, the question remains: will they act boldly to secure Achane and supercharge their run game, or will they rely on Swift and Monangai to find their rhythm as the season progresses? The answer may well determine the trajectory of Chicago’s season.
