With these reinforcements, the Bears’ defense could soon be operating at near full strength, with the exception of defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo, who is sidelined due to a torn Achilles tendon and will not return until next season.

Johnson expressed optimism about the team’s improving health, noting the positive impact of Edmunds’ return. “I think we are getting healthier and healthier,” he stated. He acknowledged that while Edmunds had to shake off some rust, his presence is invaluable. Johnson also highlighted the steady improvement of cornerback Jaylon Johnson and praised Grady Jarrett for his strong performances in recent weeks, despite dealing with a minor injury earlier in the season.

The coach emphasized the importance of regaining players’ health as the playoffs approach, adding, “It’d be great to get Kyler back potentially in the postseason as well.” Gordon, currently on injured reserve, has a recovery timeline that mirrors Edmunds’ previous four-week stint for a similar injury.
