Cardinals Face Significant Challenges Ahead of Texans Matchup
The Arizona Cardinals stepped onto the practice field for the first time in preparation for their Week 15 clash against the Houston Texans. However, the absence of key players loomed large over the session. Notably, stars such as Marvin Harrison Jr., Budda Baker, Evan Brown, Josh Sweat, Xavier Weaver, Kelvin Beachum, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Bilal Nichols were missing from practice.
Additionally, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson and Jalen Thompson were observed working on the sidelines, not in uniform during the media’s viewing period. The Cardinals had already ruled out Paris Johnson and Trey Benson ahead of practice, raising concerns about their roster depth.
Injury Updates from Coach Gannon
Head coach Jonathan Gannon addressed the media regarding the injury situation. “On the injury front, (offensive lineman) Paris (Johnson Jr.) will not go this week. Everybody else, we’ll kind of see how the week goes,” he stated. He also confirmed that running back Trey Benson would not be activated, indicating that Benson had not progressed sufficiently to participate in gameplay.
Gannon expressed enthusiasm about returning to practice, emphasizing the challenge that lies ahead. “Houston’s a good football team, I think on a five-game win streak. They have the best defense in the NFL. (Texans QB) C.J. Stroud is back. They do a really good job on both phases—taking the ball away on defense, not giving it away on offense, and they have a really good fourth down unit. We’re at their place. It’s a big-time challenge, and we’re excited about it,” he noted.
The Cardinals will need to navigate these absences carefully as they prepare for a formidable opponent in the Texans. With both teams aiming for victory, the stage is set for a thrilling matchup.
