Reid Highlights Worthy’s Speed Ahead of Ravens Clash

Kansas City, Mo. – As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, head coach Andy Reid took a moment to reflect on his team’s progress and the return of wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The Chiefs (1-2) are eager to improve their record against another struggling team, the Ravens (1-2), in what promises to be a pivotal matchup.

Injury Updates and Team Dynamics

During his press conference after Friday’s practice, Reid provided an update on team health. He noted that while all players participated, wide receiver Ashton Gillotte was absent due to illness but is expected to recover quickly. Reid expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming game, acknowledging the Ravens’ strong coaching under John Harbaugh and their formidable roster.

He stated, “We know that John does a heck of a job with that group. They have great assistant coaches and great players. It should be a heck of a game.”

Worthy’s Return to Action

A significant topic of conversation was Worthy’s return from a shoulder injury sustained in the season opener. Reid emphasized the importance of ensuring that Worthy is physically ready to compete. “You gotta be healthy enough to go play,” he explained. Reid highlighted the need for Worthy to be mentally and physically prepared, noting that regardless of his injury status, the Ravens will aggressively pursue every player on the field.

When asked about Worthy’s potential participation in Sunday’s game, Reid was optimistic: “Yeah, unless something went on today that I don’t know about.”

Worthy’s Impressive Practice Week

Reid also praised Worthy’s performance in practice, describing him as “fast” and reaffirming that his conditioning remains strong despite the upper-body injury. “We never worry about his legs. He’s been able to keep himself in good shape,” Reid noted. With his return, Worthy could significantly impact the Chiefs’ offensive strategy, providing a much-needed boost to their aerial attack.

Jalen Royals Also Set to Play

In addition to Worthy, Reid confirmed that fellow wide receiver Jalen Royals is also ready to contribute this week. This news adds another layer of depth to the Chiefs’ receiving corps as they look to exploit any weaknesses in the Ravens’ defense.

As the game approaches, all eyes will be on Worthy and his ability to shake off the rust from his injury. The anticipation builds not only for his return but for what it could mean for the Chiefs’ chances against a tough opponent.
