Steelers Welcome Back Aaron Rodgers Against Bills
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to regain their starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, for their crucial Week 13 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. After sitting out the previous game against the Chicago Bears due to a fractured left wrist, Rodgers has been cleared to return to action. Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that the veteran signal-caller participated fully in practice throughout the week and is not carrying any injury designation ahead of the game.
Navigating Uncertainty
The Steelers entered the week with cautious optimism regarding Rodgers’ return. After missing Week 12, there were lingering concerns about his ability to play, particularly as he had not taken any snaps under center prior to the matchup against the Bills. Throughout the week, both Rodgers and the coaching staff worked diligently to adapt their game plan. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith emphasized the importance of flexibility, stating, “That’s another thing that you problem solve. There’s a lot of guys. You work around that. If a guy needs a different protection, he’s got a clipped wing or something—there’s always things you can do to help your players if they’re playing and it’s something they need to work around.”
Health and Recovery
The primary concern for the Steelers revolved around Rodgers’ health. The team had to ensure that the brace he was wearing would adequately protect him during the game. Rodgers has been using the same type of brace in practice for nearly two weeks and reported feeling significantly improved as time progressed. “I’ve had more days for the callus to form and more healing,” he explained. “Especially, you know, Monday and Tuesday, just doing rehab. Today I did a little bit more. Tomorrow, I’ll do a little bit more and see where I’m at come Friday.”
With the team’s faith in his recovery and readiness, Rodgers is poised to lead the Steelers as they face off against the Bills, marking a significant comeback for the franchise and its fans.
