Aaron Brewer Emerges as the Backbone of the Dolphins’ Offensive Line
Aaron Brewer’s Remarkable Journey
In just his second season with the Miami Dolphins, center Aaron Brewer has become an indispensable asset to the team’s offensive line. Signed as an unrestricted free agent two offseasons ago, Brewer’s impact has been felt well beyond his position. He has not only developed into a top-tier NFL center but has also made a name for himself due to his remarkable durability.
Brewer’s reliability is especially crucial given the struggles the Dolphins’ offensive line has faced in recent years. With injuries often sidelining players, having a consistent presence like Brewer has become a game-changer. His commitment to being available week in and week out was on full display during the Week 11 matchup against the Washington Commanders in Spain. Despite battling an ankle and foot issue that had him miss the first practice of the week, Brewer played every snap during the game.
A Tough Mindset in Adversity
Reflecting on his recent injury, Brewer described it as “a little battle” that began midway through the Dolphins’ 30-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Remarkably, this injury went unreported in the press box, as Brewer demonstrated his tenacity by not missing a single snap.
“I feel like it wasn’t much,” Brewer said, emphasizing his resilience. “If you know me, I’m kind of a tough guy, so I just pushed through it. It’s just been a little journey.” His focus on mental fortitude during challenging moments has become a hallmark of his playing style. He further elaborated, stating, “Adrenaline for sure pushed me through it. At that time, it’s mind over matter. After the game, it definitely felt like a heartbeat in my foot, but it’s good.”
Brewer’s Streaks Stand Out
As he prepared for the game against Washington, Brewer boasted an impressive streak of 61 consecutive starts and 70 consecutive games played. This remarkable feat traces back to his time with the Tennessee Titans, where he faced setbacks due to a broken forearm and a knee injury. However, since becoming a full-time starter in 2022, Brewer has not missed a start.
“I take much pride in it,” Brewer asserted. “My goal is to not miss a game for the rest of my career since I’ve started. I just take much pride and hang my hat on that.” His dedication is evident, as he was one of only two Dolphins offensive linemen to start every game last season, alongside guard Robert Jones, who has since moved on as a free agent.
Brewer’s journey encapsulates the essence of perseverance in professional sports. As he continues to anchor the Dolphins’ offensive line, his commitment to staying healthy and available remains a crucial element of the team’s success.
