Suns Face Setbacks Against Nuggets with Key Players Out
The Phoenix Suns are gearing up for a challenging encounter against the Denver Nuggets, but they’ll do so without starting center Mark Williams and forward Ryan Dunn. Head coach Jordan Ott confirmed their absences ahead of the game, revealing the latest on their conditions.
Injury Updates on Dunn and Williams
Dunn’s situation has been a focal point for the Suns. After suffering a sprained wrist, he has missed the last few games. Ott provided a positive outlook on Dunn’s recovery, stating, “I think he’s in a good place. He’s only been out six or seven days, however long it’s been. It’s just a pain tolerance, flexibility. Of course, it’s the shooting wrist. But again, things are in a good place. We’ll continue to assess, but I would imagine it’s relatively soon.”
Meanwhile, Williams is dealing with a fresh setback. Ott revealed that during a morning evaluation, an issue with Williams’ calf emerged, despite earlier signs of progress with his knee. “Mark’s the other one. I know it’s the second night of a back-to-back. The knee was doing well, but something independently just popped up with the calf again,” Ott explained. “I don’t think it’s too serious. We want to play the long game with him. He’s done such a great job building back up and being available for us.”
Questionable Status of Allen and Goodwin
As the Suns prepare for the game, Grayson Allen and Jordan Goodwin are still listed as questionable. Their status will be determined after they go through pre-game warmups, adding another layer of uncertainty for the Suns.
Implications for Tonight’s Game
With Williams and Dunn sidelined, it’s likely that Oso Ighodaro or Nick Richards will step into starting roles. The Suns, currently 12-8 for the season, are looking to bounce back after their previous loss to the Nuggets. As they navigate these injury woes, the depth of their roster will be tested against a formidable Denver team.
