Suns Face Tough Blow as Jalen Green Set for Extended Absence
The Phoenix Suns are grappling with a significant setback following the announcement regarding guard Jalen Green’s injury. The team confirmed that Green is dealing with a right hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks. This news comes on the heels of comments from assistant coach Jordan Ott, who indicated that Green had been undergoing multiple tests to assess the severity of his condition.
“He’s obviously out tonight,” Ott stated. “We’re in the process of gathering all the information. It’s going to take a little bit of time before we know exactly what’s going on.” He emphasized the importance of patience, noting that the team wants to ensure they have a complete understanding of Green’s situation before providing further updates.
With the projected recovery timeline, there’s a possibility that Green could return just in time for the Christmas break, should his rehabilitation progress favorably. This is particularly disappointing for the Suns, as Green has only participated in one game this season. He initially sustained the hamstring injury before the preseason and later re-aggravated it, pushing back his return to the regular season.
The Suns are opting for caution as they navigate this situation, especially considering their current form. With players like Grayson Allen stepping up alongside star Devin Booker, the team is holding its own. In the one game Green played this season, he showcased his scoring prowess, netting 29 points in just 23 minutes before the injury struck while he was driving into the paint, prompting him to immediately grab at his hamstring.
When the time comes for Green to rejoin the lineup, the Suns are poised to benefit from a more potent backcourt alongside Booker. “He takes a lot of pressure off anybody,” Booker remarked after sharing the court with Green. “He’s a high-level talent. When given the opportunity and space, he can pretty much do everything. We saw a glimpse of it tonight.”
As the Suns prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the focus remains on maintaining momentum while anticipating Green’s return to the hardwood.
