The holiday season has taken on a special glow in Oklahoma City, thanks to the heartfelt generosity of the Oklahoma City Thunder. As the team continues its tradition of community involvement, this year’s initiatives highlight their commitment to uplifting those in need during this festive time.

The Thunder are well-known for their charitable endeavors throughout the year, consistently focusing on enhancing the lives of local residents. This holiday season is no exception. General Manager Sam Presti has emphasized the team’s philosophy of prioritizing “people first and players second,” a guiding principle that resonates deeply within their recent activities in the community.
In early December, nearly the entire roster participated in a “Holiday Shopping Spree” at Target. This memorable event was organized for families associated with Sunbeam Family Services, part of the team’s holiday assist program aimed at spreading joy and support within the community.
Individual Acts of Kindness
Beyond the team efforts, several players have also taken it upon themselves to give back. Isaiah Hartenstein, along with the Hartenstein Foundation, organized a separate holiday shopping spree for children from the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma City. Reflecting on the importance of the season, Hartenstein shared, “Christmas is an important holiday for myself. So just being able to give back, give back to the families in need and, again, work with the Boys & Girls Club was very special.”
His generosity did not stop at the shopping spree. Teena Belcik, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma City, noted that Hartenstein also provided a signed basketball, a gift card for future shopping, and a ham for families to enjoy during their holiday meals.
