Thunder Dominate Warriors as Gilgeous-Alexander Sets New NBA Record

The Oklahoma City Thunder are proving to be a formidable force in the NBA this season, showcasing their prowess once again with a decisive 126-102 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. This win elevates the Thunder’s record to an impressive 11-1, underscoring their dominance as they navigate through the early stages of the season.

Thunder Control the Game from Start to Finish

Unlike previous outings where they had to claw back from deficits, the Thunder commanded this game right from the start. After a solid opening frame, they never looked back, maintaining control throughout. The team displayed remarkable efficiency, shooting 50.6% from the field and an impressive 44.4% from three-point range. This marked a significant improvement in their shooting performance, particularly from beyond the arc.

On the defensive end, the Thunder executed their game plan effectively, limiting the Warriors’ star, Steph Curry, to a mere 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting. The Thunder’s defensive strategy stifled not just Curry, but also curtailed other offensive threats from Golden State, illustrating their commitment to a balanced and robust defense.

Star Performances Shine Bright

The victory was highlighted by standout performances from Oklahoma City’s superstars, who played a pivotal role in the team’s success. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning MVP, delivered a stellar performance, finishing with 28 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block in just 28 minutes of play. His all-around impact on the game was felt on both ends of the court.

Chet Holmgren also made a significant contribution, posting 23 points and 11 rebounds while showcasing remarkable shooting accuracy—going 9-of-9 from the field and 2-of-2 from three-point territory. His efficient scoring was a key factor in the Thunder’s offensive onslaught.

Gilgeous-Alexander Makes History

In addition to the team’s victory, Gilgeous-Alexander etched his name into the NBA record books. He now holds the record for the most games by a point guard with at least 25 points and 10 assists while playing under 30 minutes. This feat underscores his efficiency and ability to maximize his impact in limited time on the court.

As the Thunder continue to build momentum this season, their blend of offensive firepower and defensive tenacity positions them as a team to watch. The combination of Gilgeous-Alexander’s historic performance and Holmgren’s emergence as a reliable scorer sets a promising tone for the season ahead.
