Jamal Murray Joins Elite 10,000-Point Club Amid Nuggets Loss to Spurs

Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has made a significant mark in NBA history by joining the exclusive 10,000 career points club. This milestone came just over a month into his tenth season in the league during a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Cup. Murray reached this impressive feat within the first six minutes of the game, eventually finishing the night with 37 points, four rebounds, and seven assists over 36 minutes of play.

A Major Milestone for Murray

Crossing the 10,000-point threshold positions Murray among an elite group of all-time scorers within the Nuggets franchise. He is now one of just seven players in Denver’s history to achieve this milestone, and notably, the third to do so in the last 25 seasons. This accomplishment not only highlights Murray’s scoring prowess but also underscores his importance to the franchise.

Elite Company

The list of Nuggets players who have surpassed the 10,000-point mark is a testament to the franchise’s rich history, featuring some of the league’s greatest talents. At the top of this illustrious list is Alex English, who leads with a remarkable 21,625 points. He is followed by current superstar Nikola Jokic, who has amassed 16,760 points. Other notable names in this exclusive group include Dan Issel, Carmelo Anthony, David Thompson, and Ralph Simpson. Now, Murray has etched his name alongside these legends.

A Stellar Season So Far

Murray’s achievement coincides with a stellar start to the current season. In the 18 games he has played, he is enjoying career-high averages, with 24.0 points per game on an impressive 48.6% shooting from the field. Additionally, he contributes 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game, reflecting his all-around game and playmaking ability. With his performance thus far, Murray is also positioning himself for a potential All-Star selection, a recognition that would mark a significant achievement in his career should he and the Nuggets maintain their success as the season progresses.
