Jamal Murray, the dynamic guard for the Denver Nuggets, has officially etched his name into the annals of basketball history by surpassing the 10,000 career points milestone. This achievement comes just a month into his tenth season in the NBA, adding another layer to an already impressive career. The significant moment unfolded during the Nuggets’ recent game against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Cup, where Murray made his mark early, reaching the milestone in the first six minutes of play.

A Stellar Performance Amidst a Tough Loss

Despite the Nuggets’ defeat to the Spurs, Murray showcased his scoring prowess with a remarkable 37 points, complemented by four rebounds and seven assists over 36 minutes of action. His ability to shine even in challenging circumstances speaks volumes about his talent and determination.

A Select Group of Scorers

Reaching the 10,000-point mark places Murray among an exclusive group of scorers in Nuggets history. He is now one of only seven players in the franchise’s history to achieve this feat, joining legends such as Alex English, who leads the pack with 21,625 points, and Nikola Jokic, who has amassed 16,760 points. The list also includes notable figures like Dan Issel, Carmelo Anthony, David Thompson, and Ralph Simpson. Murray’s entry into this illustrious group underscores his significant contributions to the team and his standing in the league.

In the 18 games he has played thus far, he is averaging a career-high 24.0 points per game, shooting an impressive 48.6% from the field. Additionally, he is contributing 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game, showcasing his well-rounded game. With these numbers, Murray is not only solidifying his role as a cornerstone of the Nuggets but is also setting his sights on a potential All-Star selection for the first time in his career.
