Indiana Pacers humiliated as Miami Heat’s fourth-quarter eruption extends losing streak to eight games

Pacers Stumble Again as Heat Surge in Fourth Quarter

The Indiana Pacers endured another tough night, suffering a 142-116 defeat to the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center. Despite a promising start that saw them leading 60-59 at halftime, the Pacers faltered dramatically in the second half, particularly in the third quarter, where the Heat capitalized on defensive lapses to surge ahead.

Defensive Struggles Fuel Heat’s Dominance

The Heat unleashed a barrage in the third quarter, scoring 39 points while exposing the Pacers’ vulnerabilities on defense. As the teams entered the final quarter, Miami held a commanding lead. The fourth quarter became a showcase for the Heat, who outscored the Pacers 44-22, turning what was once a competitive game into a lopsided affair.

The Pacers managed to keep the deficit to just four points at one stage, but Miami’s relentless offense proved too much. They scored on 10 of their first 12 possessions in the fourth, effectively sealing the game and extending Indiana’s losing streak.

Standout Performances Amidst Struggles

Despite the loss, several Pacers players put up notable performances. Pascal Siakam led the charge with 33 points, while Bennedict Mathurin contributed 25. Andrew Nembhard notched a double-double with 15 points and 16 assists. Jay Huff also made an impact with 11 points, joining his teammates in double figures.

On the other side of the court, the Heat were powered by a pair of 28-point efforts from Andrew Wiggins and Jaime Jaquez Jr. Norm Powell added 23 points, and Nikola Jovic provided a significant boost off the bench with 19 points. Pelle Larsson and Kel’el Ware chipped in with 16 and 15 points, respectively, showcasing Miami’s depth and offensive prowess.

Pacers Face Uphill Battle Ahead

With this loss, the Pacers now sit at 6-26 for the season, marking their eighth consecutive defeat. Their road record has plummeted to a disheartening 1-14, making it increasingly difficult to find a path to success. While there have been moments of promising play, the team has struggled to maintain a consistent rhythm, failing to deliver a complete game in terms of both offense and defense.

Looking ahead, the Pacers aim to break their losing streak as they prepare to face Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets in Texas. The game is set for Monday at 8 p.m. ET at the Toyota Center, with fans able to tune in via FanDuel Sports Network or stream through NBA League Pass. The urgency for the Pacers to regroup and find their footing has never been more critical.
