Grayson Allen’s Knee Injury Forces Suns to Adjust Before Warriors Showdown

PHOENIX — In a surprising turn of events, the Phoenix Suns have officially ruled out starting guard Grayson Allen for their pivotal matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The news comes after Allen appeared on the injury report last night with right knee soreness, raising concerns for a team eager to regain momentum.

Injury Updates and Lineup Adjustments

Compounding the Suns’ injury woes, Isaiah Livers will also miss the game due to a right hip strain, which has sidelined him for the past seven contests. Jalen Green, recovering from a right hamstring strain, remains out as well, although reports suggest he could return next week. Meanwhile, the Warriors face their own challenges, with Al Horford unavailable due to sciatica and Pat Spencer out for personal reasons. Seth Curry’s status is uncertain as he deals with a left glute injury, listed as questionable.

Suns head coach Jordan Ott provided insight into Allen’s situation during the pregame, stating, “We don’t think it’s anything serious. It just happened in that last game against the Lakers… We’re going to monitor him and see how it goes.” Allen has already dealt with injuries this season, missing eight games due to a right quad contusion and illness. In the 18 games he has played, he has struggled to regain his earlier form, averaging 10.8 points per game over the last five outings, with a dismal shooting percentage of 20.6% from three-point range.

Despite these setbacks, Allen boasts a career-high scoring average of 16.7 points this season, complemented by a 39.2% shooting rate from beyond the arc. In his recent performance against the Lakers, he contributed seven assists and three steals, showcasing his ability to impact the game beyond scoring.

Potential Starters in Allen’s Absence

With Allen sidelined, the Suns have several options to fill the void. Royce O’Neale is likely to step into the starting role, having started 21 of his 26 games this season. Other candidates include Collin Gillespie, Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, and Mark Williams, with Ryan Dunn and Jordan Goodwin also in the mix for additional support.

Suns Seeking a Turnaround

Entering this game, the Suns are looking to snap a two-game losing streak and have dropped six of their last nine contests. While their defensive effort has been commendable, characterized by forcing turnovers and creating chaos, the team is in dire need of a collective offensive resurgence similar to their earlier season performances.

The Warriors are also grappling with their own struggles, having lost two consecutive games and eight of their last twelve. This matchup presents a crucial opportunity for the Suns to capitalize on Golden State’s recent form and get back on track.

As the teams prepare to clash, anticipation builds for what promises to be an intense showdown, scheduled to tip off shortly after 7:00 p.m. MST.
