Cam Reddish Embarks on European Journey with BC Siauliai

Former NBA Player Takes His Talents Overseas

In a notable shift from the NBA landscape, forward Cam Reddish is reportedly making a significant career move to Europe. According to reports from Domantas Urbonas of BasketNews, Reddish is close to finalizing a deal with Lithuanian club BC Siauliai. This comes just two years after he was a key component in a major trade involving the New York Knicks.

Reddish, who was selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, entered the league with considerable expectations. His college career at Duke saw him sharing the court with notable talents like Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett. However, the 26-year-old’s journey through the NBA has been marred by inconsistency and injuries, which have hindered his ability to fulfill the promise that accompanied his high draft status.

A Troubled NBA Tenure

Reddish’s time in the NBA has seen him transition through several teams. After being traded to the Knicks from Atlanta in early 2022, he struggled to find his footing. His brief tenure with the Knicks included moments of potential but was ultimately characterized by a lack of consistent playing time. Reddish averaged 8.5 points and 2.7 rebounds over 254 career NBA games, with 35 of those appearances under the Knicks’ banner.

Despite his fleeting impact in New York, Reddish became a footnote in the franchise’s history. At the 2023 trade deadline, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a deal that also involved Ryan Arcidiacono and Svi Mykhailiuk, in exchange for fan-favorite Josh Hart. Following a stint in Portland, Reddish spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he initially enjoyed starting minutes before falling out of the rotation yet again.

New Beginnings in Lithuania

After being waived by the Lakers in March, Reddish is now set to embrace a new chapter in his career with BC Siauliai. Interestingly, his contract includes an exit clause should an NBA opportunity arise, potentially allowing him to return to the league if the right situation presents itself.

The Lithuanian club recently appointed Darius Songaila, a former NBA power forward, as head coach. Songaila, who has experience as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs, is expected to guide Reddish and the team through this new phase.

As Reddish prepares for this European adventure, he’ll be looking to revitalize his career and make a mark in a different basketball landscape. The transition to BC Siauliai may offer him the chance to showcase his skills and regain the momentum that has eluded him thus far in the NBA.
