Bronny James struggles ignite concern as Lakers’ rookie shoots dismal 16.7% in preseason opener

Bronny James Faces Early Challenges in Preseason Performance

The upcoming season holds significant promise for Bronny James as he seeks to carve out a role with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the early returns from his preseason performances have raised a few eyebrows. While it’s important to remember that these are merely exhibitions, the numbers reveal a concerning trend for the rookie.

Preseason Shooting Struggles

Bronny’s shooting woes were on full display in the Lakers’ preseason opener against the Phoenix Suns. He finished the game with a dismal 1-for-12 shooting performance from the field, including just 1-for-8 from beyond the arc. The struggle continued in the second game against the Golden State Warriors, where he managed to score only 2-of-6 overall and 1-of-3 from three-point territory.

In total, Bronny has shot 3-for-18 (16.7%) from the field and 2-for-11 (18.2%) from three-point range across these two games. Such numbers are far from ideal, especially as he competes for minutes on a talented Lakers squad.

The Importance of Shooting

Entering the league, Bronny’s shooting ability was widely regarded as a crucial component of his game. Coming out of USC, expectations were that he would hold his own defensively at the NBA level. While his offensive creation might still need refinement, a reliable shooting game could be the key to unlocking his potential.

Yet, as the statistics indicate, if Bronny continues to shoot at this rate, making a meaningful impact in the league will be a daunting task. His performance will be closely monitored as he navigates the challenges of his rookie season.

Looking Ahead

The Lakers are aware that the preseason is about more than just wins and losses. It’s a time for players to find their rhythm and adjust to the pace of the NBA. For Bronny, this means focusing on his shooting and working to improve as he moves forward.

As the preseason progresses, all eyes will be on Bronny James to see if he can turn his performance around and secure his place in the Lakers’ rotation. The path ahead is challenging, but the potential remains, and the basketball world is eager to see how he responds.
