The NASCAR drivers were pleased with the governing body’s choice to reschedule the Clash race. William Byron, a driver for Hendrick Motorsports, expressed his support for NASCAR to adopt a scheduling system similar to the NFL’s Flex Scheduling. This would allow fans to have more flexibility in watching the races and could greatly benefit the sport. The Flex Scheduling tool, utilized by the NFL, allows for the most anticipated games to be scheduled during prime-time hours. While a 28-day notification period may not be feasible for NASCAR, a six to four-day window could be suitable. Rather than postponing races, NASCAR should consider moving them to Saturdays, as it would be more convenient for fans and could improve viewership on TV. The entire NASCAR community was in agreement with the decision to change the race date, understanding that waiting for better weather conditions was not a practical choice. The drivers also commended NASCAR for their bold decision, despite the potential financial loss. 2020 Cup champion and teammate of William Byron, also expressed his satisfaction with NASCAR’s decision and emphasized that having the Clash race on a Saturday is beneficial for the sport.
