Yuki Tsunoda is eager to climb the ranks within the Red Bull organization. The Formula 1 driver believes he has developed into a more well-rounded competitor and is prepared to make the leap to Red Bull’s main team if given the opportunity. Tsunoda’s performance in F1 has been marked by impressive speed, but his inconsistent results and fiery temperament have tarnished his reputation. However, he has thrived with the rebranded RB squad this season and has even outscored his more experienced teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, by 10 points. Despite the potential opening at Red Bull in 2025 due to Sergio Perez’s struggles, Ricciardo and reserve driver Liam Lawson are seen as more likely candidates.
Tsunoda stated last month that he has done everything he can this season to prove himself to Red Bull, but there are other factors influencing the decision-making process. Nevertheless, Tsunoda is confident in his abilities and feels that he has taken the necessary steps to compete at the highest level in the series. He acknowledges that in order to join a top team, he needs to be a more complete driver, not just in terms of performance on the track, but also in areas such as radio communication and emotional control. Tsunoda has worked hard to improve these aspects of his racing and believes that he is now ready to consistently meet the expectations of a top team. He is pleased with his recent performances and feels that he has found more control and consistency in his driving.
Tsunoda is focused on hitting his targets and not getting distracted by rumors or external factors. At the Belgian Grand Prix, he mentioned that he has had limited discussions with senior Red Bull officials regarding his chances of being promoted if Perez is dropped. Tsunoda hopes that strong performances after the summer break will make him a serious contender to partner with Max Verstappen at Red Bull. He is confident that Red Bull is satisfied with his performance, as evidenced by the extension of his contract for next year. Tsunoda understands that he needs to continue performing at a high level and consistently make the team happy in order to further his chances. He is ready to compete against stronger opponents and teams, including his teammate Verstappen, but ultimately, the decision lies with Red Bull.
