Travis Geisler from Team Penske Racing has provided some insight into the performance of Joey Logano during a turbulent season.
The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been a roller coaster ride for the No:22 Ford driver. The two-time champion entered the season with hopes of redemption after a disastrous 2024 campaign. However, despite a strong start with a win at the All-Star race, Logano’s performance has been inconsistent.
Since his triumph at North Wilkesboro, Logano has been more productive and secured a place in the playoffs with a race win. However, he and his team have not been able to match the performance of their teammate. The Penske technical director acknowledged the need to increase their pace.
The No:22 team understands that they cannot progress in the playoffs with just one win. They are actively seeking ways to secure more wins and accumulate valuable playoff points by finding the extra speed they need.
While the veteran Penske drivers have been performing well, Logano’s teammate Austin Cindric has been struggling this year. Despite being part of the development process, the No:2 team has fallen behind in terms of results.
On race days, Cindric’s team performs and struggles on the same tracks as Logano’s team. However, the gap between the two drivers is larger than expected due to poor form and other factors.
The team recognizes the need to improve the cars of Logano and Cindric in order to achieve better results. This improvement will also benefit Ryan Blaney and his team. The outcome of the 2024 season for Team Penske Racing will be intriguing to watch.
