Joey Logano anticipates reaching his peak at the opportune moment in order to secure victory in the 2024 NASCAR Cup championship alongside the No:22 team.
The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been underwhelming for the two-time champion. He entered the season with hopes of redeeming himself after a disappointing title defense in 2023. However, he struggled to consistently finish in the top 10 during the first half of the season. As the season progressed, he did manage to make a comeback with a victory in Nashville.
Nevertheless, Joey Logano’s victory at Nashville was a result of a risky pit strategy and fortunate fuel load at the end. Despite making it into the playoffs and showing more consistency, he is not considered a contender for the championship this season. However, the seasoned driver always has his sights set on the ultimate prize.
During a media interview at Richmond, Logano acknowledged the significance of the No:22 team’s playoff entry but emphasized that it is not his ultimate goal. His objective has always been the championship, and the playoffs are merely a steppingstone for him. Logano is diligently working to discover an advantage that will propel him to a third title.
Last year, the No:12 Ford driver claimed the championship by peaking at the right time and securing crucial race wins. He hopes to replicate that level of productivity and believes that with the progress his team has made this season, they have the potential to peak at the optimal moment.
Team Penske has demonstrated their ability to peak at the right moment during the Next-Gen era by patiently developing their team. Therefore, it would not be surprising to see Joey Logano make a strong late-season push to contend for the title.
