Yamaha continues to work hard to return to the level expected of it, but Álex Rins does not consider that, in the MotoGP tests in Barcelona almost a week ago, there was much progress, at least for now. There is, however, a more powerful and aggressive engine, he assured, although the remaining motorcycle was not ‘prepared’ to manage the power correctly, given his riding style.
The Spaniard explained part of ‘some things’ that the manufacturer brought: ‘New chassis, engine and I felt very good with this new chassis. I was able to maintain greater speed in the corners. I expected on the braking side that it would be a little better, but there was a very small improvement.’
Looking at one of the engines tested, #42 explained that there are differences, in its character at least: ‘About the engine, it is true that it is more powerful on the straight, coming out of curves but at least, with my riding style, no We are prepared to have this power. The bike was very aggressive in skidding a lot and we needed to adjust the electronics to use that engine.’
Rins rode 60 laps on the Catalan circuit, where he was eighth in testing, while Fabio Quartararo was second (75 laps). Jack Miller (Pramac Racing/Yamaha) scored 71, 11 more than Miguel Oliveira.
