It is with the desire to get back to his best level after a few difficulties in Sepang that Marco Bezzecchi goes to Lusail for the last two days of tests of MotoGP before the season opener. Fabio Di Giannantonio, his new teammate, will serve as an inspiration… and help.
Asked to what his goals are, the italian from Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team began to say: ‘Well I don’t know what to expect. The target is to try to be better than in Malaysia for sure because I struggled a lot there specially in the last day so I would like to comeback and be fast. We worked a lot at home, analysed a lot the data, everything, and we planned what to do here. I expect a positive test’.
Then Bezz spoke of his problems and as this test will be different from what he did in Malaysia, furthermore as the season will start in the same circuit: ‘All the problems that I felt on the bike I could see in the data fortunately and for me it was difficult to stop the bike and make it turn. From the stopping depends a lot of the riding, and if you stop well everything is easier. We saw everything and made a good plan for here. For sure it’s a different test, the track is different but the first race will also be here. We will have to work more on racing let’s say, that we did in Sepang. It’s a bit similar to the Portimão test from last year because we had the test then we raced there. Is different’.
As for what the work is with his new teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio, the italian added: ‘He has been very fast and I was able to look at his data and learn everything he did better than me. Also this track is very good for him, he won last year, so will be interesting to try to learn from him. I have a good feeling together with him’.
