Maverick Viñales heads to the MotoGP Japanese GP after securing two consecutive sixth-place finishes. Although he recognizes that Motegi will not be an easy circuit for the Aprilia RS-GP, the Spaniard is determined to continue his progress and aim for an even better result.
The Spaniard stated: ‘I’m looking to continue how we are growing up in these last races. For sure Mandalika was the closest one of the last six or seven, because the rhythm was looking really good. We know clearly that everything is on the qualifying, so we will be very focused to put everything in one lap’.
While acknowledging that Motegi is not the easiest track for Aprilia, Viñales remains confident about delivering a strong performance this weekend: ‘For the rest, I’m convinced we can be closer. Of course, Japan is a tough track for us, because it’s all stop-and-go. But I’m aiming to make another great performance’.
Braking is another challenge for Aprilia, but the #12 rider remains optimistic: ‘That’s a big challenge for Aprilia, but we’ve been making steps forward in hard brakings. So, we’ll see. For sure the grip will be very different, also the tyres are different. Let’s see, but the atmosphere is good, I feel very positive, and I think we are in a good way’.
