After retiring from the Aragon GP, Francesco Bagnaia is now second in the MotoGP World Championship, 23 points behind leader Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati). He is looking to close the gap this coming weekend at his home race, the San Marino GP.
Right after the Aragón race, the Ducati rider told the press that the focus is now on accumulating points: ‘Misano it’s a good track for me, but it was a good track for Martín last year. From now on, we have to focus much more on the points’.
Then, in a press release, Bagnaia expressed his excitement about this second home round of the year, also showing confidence in the potential of the team even though he is not in peak physical condition:
– I am thrilled to race in Misano this weekend. The San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix is always an exciting event: I will race just a few kilometres from home, and there will be a lot of fans there to support us. We know we have good potential on this track, and it will be crucial to do a good job immediately to be competitive. Physically, I’m still not 100%, but I’m working hard to race without discomfort.
